Welcome to me

This book offers an extensive analysis and evaluation of the life and work of Edward De Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, as the true writer behind Shakespeare. It delves into the historical context and evolution of English Literature, and includes an appendix that examines William Shakspere of Stratford-upon-Avon and the critical response to his authorship. It also explores how the Italian drama and culture played a major role in the evolution of theatre in England during Elizabeth's reign. The likely source of Oxford's induction into Italian culture was the academic and cultural segment of the Italian colony in London, where Oxford acquired a competence in Italian and a deep immersion in Italian culture from people like Battista Castiglione, Alfonso Ferrabosco, and Petruccio Ubaldini. Oxford would have been dependent on the accounts of Italian culture from the expatriates until the arrival of the first Commedia Erudita company. Oxford's expedition to Italy in 1575-69 showed his desire to see Italian culture in its home turf. The book continues on to discuss the major role Oxford played in the English language revolution to the first purpose built theatre and even evidence that Oxford ran a scriptorium at the end of the 1580s.
